Inaugural Southern Hudson Valley Passive House Meet-up

The Beczak Environmental Education Center is partnering with Phius Alliance NY to conduct monthly Passive House meetings to provide opportunities to network and learn about PH projects past, present and future in the lower Hudson Valley area. The Beczak Center has agreed to be our official venue.

Speaker Bios

Rob Hothan is Vice President of Beczak Environmental Education Center, PHI Consultant, member of Phius Alliance NY, and has a Masters in Energy Management. He is currently working on a Historical Landmark building to meet the PH standard in Yonkers.

Ed Nugent CPHC is a Passive House Builder and co-founder of Phius Alliance Hudson Valley, recently renamed Phius Alliance New York, who has built several Passive House, Zero Energy, and LEED certified projects in the Hudson Valley area.

Christina Griffin AIA LEED AP CPHC is founder of CGA Studio Architects, an award-winning architectural design firm providing innovative and environmentally-conscious buildings throughout the Hudson Valley for the past 36 years. The firm is known for Passive House, Zero Energy, and LEED certified projects, and received two Innovative Housing awards from the US Department of Energy in 2023.

Itai Kaitano is the founder of BK Climate Solutions, a hydronic mechanical contracting firm that specializes in leading edge systems powered by renewables. As an entrepreneur, dedicated to viable energy-efficient HVAC design, he pioneered the installation of New York City’s first modern residential integrated air-to-water heat pump radiant system, which has been featured in numerous national trade publications.

Chester Birchwood is Managing Director of HVAC Kings LLC and a partner at BK Climate Solutions. He is a Renewable Energy Engineer and Installer with certification from the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association. His portfolio includes solar-thermal systems for multifamily buildings, such as the experimental solar-thermal assisted cooling project at the FDNY garage on Randall’s Island.

Parking

On-site parking is limited. Please consider using Metro North. Beczak is one block north of Yonkers Train Station. Take the Metro North Railroad, Hudson Line or Amtrak and get off the Yonkers Stop. Exit the platform and follow signs to Alexander Street (need to go under the tracks towards the water). The center is north of the Yonkers train station (walk with the tracks to your right).
